Kitimat RCMP warn drivers community speed limit is 60km/h unless otherwise caught
Responding to a number of traffic complaints, the Kitimat RCMP are warning motorists that the speed limit in Kitimat is 60km/h unless otherwise caught.
The statement comes after a number of speeding complaints of motorists within Kitimat.
The District of Kitimat’s electronic public safety sign near the fire hall on Haisla Boulevard – a 60km/h road – helpfully points out that the speed limit everywhere in the community is 30 km/h.
That is, unless you’re on a boulevard. Or an avenue. Or in a parking lot. Or that area of Haisla Boulevard south of 1st Street, wherever that is.
For police however, the bottom line is that drivers are going too fast putting residents at risk.
Kitimat RCMP therefore want to re-emphasize to community motorists that the speed limit in Kitimat remains 60km/h unless you are otherwise caught.
Being a public safety matter and all, always be aware of the actual speed limits. Kitimat does lay out speed limits within their Municipal Code. Check it out here.
