Town deploys emergency bobsled reserve for residents

The District of Kitimat has activated their emergency bobsled reserve, deploying them to residents needing to reach downtown so as to avoid using normal vehicles.

With a snowfall warning in effect, the town wants to encourage residents to use more winter-friendly transport.

The town will begin distribution in Cable Car, and working inwards to Whitesail, Nechako, and finally Kildala as supplies permits.

The town says this is to ensure the people who need the bobsleds the most have immediate access to them.

As bobsleds necessitate travelling as a group (approximately four people in each), the District of Kitimat considers this plan eligible under their Climate Action goals, and funded their reserve of bobsleds through grants from the Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program (CARIP).
